Project Description

Fifth Stop, Washington, DC!

Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia and also known as D.C. or just Washington, is the capital city of the United States. The U.S. Constitution provides for a federal district under the exclusive jurisdiction of Congress; the district is therefore not a part of any U.S. state (nor is it one itself). The signing of the Residence Act on July 16, 1790, approved the creation of a capital district located along the Potomac River near the country’s East Coast. The City of Washington was founded in 1791 to serve as the national capital, and Congress held its first session there in 1800. In 1801, the territory, formerly part of Maryland and Virginia (including the settlements of Georgetown and Alexandria), officially became recognized as the federal district.

June 21st, 2021

We have been East Coast living the past few weeks and now we’re back in the DMV for the first time since we moved 9-years ago. So, Melissa is improvising for pizza.

June 22nd, 2021 – First Entry

I do not miss the Military helicopters flying overhead in MD.

June 22nd, 2021 – Second Entry

 Speaking of Foxboro… Stu and I got together again for the first time in well over a year to talk about Red hat Inc, and Hybrid. Has Stu gone to the Darkside and become a Linux expert? Or is there more to the story about his role at Red Hat?

June 22nd – Third Entry

Live hot take from HPE Discover Keynote.

June 22nd, 2021 – Fourth Entry

Me trying to work in CTOA Flying Cloud during heavy rain. Sandy Carter, you asked about the good and the bad. Well, at least we are dry.

June 22nd, 2021 – Fifth Entry

I gave the keys to the CTO Dose to Evan Kirstel as he visited the CTOA Flying Cloud at Normandy Farms in Foxboro, MA.

June 22nd, 2021 – Sixth Entry

Living in an RV with my wife as we run our business and deliver this new offering has been a growth experience. Today marks 3-weeks of CTOA Road Trip. I’ve learned that Melissa is good at holding the mirror up to me.

June 23rd, 2021 – First Entry

Keith: personal note: We are at the mall we shopped at when we lived in MD. Back in another life time, I’d watch my then toddler grand baby try to make new friends as Melissa and Delainy shopped. Looking forward to kids playing again in the mall.

June 23rd, 2021 – Second Entry

Interestingly, about 90% of the people in this mall in MD have on masks. It’s very different than anywhere else we’ve been so far. Is public mask wearing still the socially expected thing in your part of the U.S.

June 24th, 2021 – First Entry

Illinois doesn’t do much right. But our toll roads are relatively inexpensive. When I commuted daily back and forth from almost the start to the end of the toll road, I paid roughly $75/month. We’ve paid $271.29 in less than a month on the east coast!

June 24th, 2021 – Second Entry

Keith: The hills Jim. The hills of MD! Some CTOA Road Trip running.

June 24th, 2021 – Third Entry

So this happened. Hanging with Michael Letschin.

June 25th, 2021 – First Entry

I’m at Ray Wang’s book tour stop in Reston, VA. Great seeing people in-person.

Check out his book “Everybody Wants to Rule the World: Surviving and Thriving in a World of Digital Giants”.

June 25th, 2021 – Second Entry

Ray is talking “Toasters As A Service”. I have not seen him present in person before, but He is at Martin Casado’s level of active on the stage.

June 25th, 2021 – Third Entry

So, this happened.

June 25th, 2021 – Fourth Entry

I met Swathi Young as part of Ray’s Rule The World tour in Reston, VA. She is writing a book on ethical AI. We had a fascinating conversation about edge AI/ML. Follow her for insights on ethics in AI. Also, buy Ray’s book.

June 26th, 2021

We didn’t get to see everyone we wanted in the DMV, but Nathaniel and Nikki Avery showed Melissa and I what the wee hours of the night means. It was so nice reconnecting. We first met them at VMworld 2014.
