all right so what you guys don't see is Melissa is working the camera and she went 5 4 3 2 1 you're not supposed to say the one don't say the technically so it's Keith Townsen from the CTO advisor.com with a younger version of myself Marcus Ramsey he's my youngest and this year uh Melissa don't worry guys Melissa is still coming with us to VM World she's going to still uh indulge in all the V bacon this that's VM world but we're bringing Marcus Here For
the First Time mainly because of the hackathon Marcus is a senior at the mighty yeah the Paul University my a good portion of my paycheck goes to the Paul and Marcus has uh is entering his senior year VM world is doing something special this year they're having a hackathon Marcus really isn't a infrastructure guy you don't do much what what's your kind of experience with VMware uh pretty much just uh from what you and Mom did the first year haven't seen y'all blogs and everything so
that's VM World okay but VMware the oh was V okay um for the most part just the um what you what you introduced to me a while back ago using the the virtual machine application that they have it's a pretty cool application that's uh pretty much all all the experience I have with VMware so far so uh I noticed that vmw was putting on a hackathon reaching out to developers Marcus is going for his uh major uh degree in computer science you know pretty developer heavy
thing he may end up as a developer uh once he graduates so the hackathon kind of made sense opportunity for him to get exposed to VMware vcloud air and uh and get frankly get a free ticket to VM world for Wednesday awesome party did I tell you about the party on Wednesday night yeah after party for it yeah the after party so there's Alabama Shakes and neon some Brock band you know if you you haven't noticed rock bands are probably not our Forte so but more
importantly it's going to be at Giant stadium so great event uh from a technology perspective it's a great opportunity for Marcus Marcus gets to network with uh my fellow Geeks I'm going to be doing uh quite a bit that week I'm going as press and I'm also doing I hadn't told you about this but I'm doing the tech Field Day events which is a series of uh two or three days of different presenters coming in telling us about their different Technologies I'm going to hear about
Violin Memory and a couple of guys I'll introduce Marcus to the tech field day guys so that Monday Tuesday Wednesday that he's there or Monday or Tuesday where you're not doing anything uh conference related you get to meet that uh crew of guys uh Stephen I hadn't told you about that yet but that's coming any other any other are good reasons uh to attend VMware VM World well it's um it's in San Francisco so that's that's Silicon Valley over there it's um where a lot of
a lot of programmers a lot of developers get their first shot at or a lot of them come from over there so you know just continuing the networking you know we have VM world and I have Silicon Valley so I can probably meet up with some guys there uh just learn from them learn from their experiences connect with some people and you know see where that goes from there hopefully something great happens so I'm pretty excited VM world is starting to become a kind of a
towns and tradition this is surprisingly only my third VM world but it has blown up in the towns and household pretty quickly I got a uh developer that I'm trying to convert into kind of an infrastructure uh loving vcloud air consuming uh geek that you know hopefully Embraces this whole Dev Ops culture and you don't even know what DeVos is do you I'm assuming it's short for developer operations that you know what I assume that it's short for developer operations as well so hopefully uh he
can get a taste of kind of the dev ops world you're a little bit unsure on what you're going to do for no no sure idea what you're going to do for the Haine yet right so far no uh you you try to shut me down on my first one I I had an idea for the mobile application but would can't really find a way how I would work on the uh on vcloud on the vcloud air so I have to uh I I just downloaded
it yesterday the vcloud air so I'm getting used to how it works and then hopefully brainstorming comes and I jot something down and get something going before before we take the trip out there yep that's the whole point the uh and I think that's vmw's intent is to get you know people introduced to vcloud Air and consuming it as they would AWS so you know I'm I'm looking forward to it I'm I'm looking forward to the ideas and see what he comes up with that's it
