what's my thoughts on VMware Explorer 2024 you know what I I'd be surprised if there's more than 5,000 people at this show it shows I think it reflects the broadcom overall strategy of focusing on that top 2,000 customers similar to what it's done with CA semantic Etc making those core customers more profitable for and broadcom investors but VMware is not CA and it's not semantic it is a software company that actually has opportunity broadcom has focused on VMware Cloud Foundation I think in a positive manner
while I personally want to see a lot of the products that VMware by broadcom have ejected out of the portfolio I thought those products were important important to the overall industry the multicloud uh approach a lot of things that really solved problems for the industry while I'm not a fan of the new licensing structure from a customer perspective investors love it I think the focus on VOR Cloud foundation will pay off over the long term broadcom has historically really done a great job with education and
certification for or CA semantic and their other software products and I expect them to do the same with VMware Cloud Foundation as they hit the reset on the overall strategy short term if your serviced by VMware vpar on the lower-end feature set broadcom really isn't in my opinion innovating around that base virtualization capability on this ability to build a private cloud and use the bits of tanzo and the cloud platform or development platform they've had previously I expect broadcom to make advancements in making that a
little bit more TurnKey you fast forward a couple of years and if they get this right we may start to see VMware Explorer go back up to the 10 15 20,000 attendees because they're solving a problem that no one has been able to solve which is how do you build a turnkey private cloud and have the workforce the talent out in the market to manage this across the industry ambitious in that sense painful the journey has been so far in my start wars vacular voice has
been to this Point uh broadcom has not communicated well with the general public on what their strategy is I think they've talked to these large customers and informed them kind of the long-term strategy but shortterm uh we're all seeing the disruption in the channel we're seeing it in education we're seeing it in licing we're seeing the pain of that transformation but I see the longterm agenda and possibilities will it take place I don't know I'm hoping it will because if broadcom is right in their technical
uh Theory and where the product should go maybe three or four years from now we'll all be thaning them for the purchase of vwar even though right now it's causing quite a bit of pain
