Update on our Hybrid-Cloud Journey

>> Hey how's it going? It's Keith Townsend, principal of the CTO Advisor. A update on the CTO Advisor hybrid infrastructure, where are we at? Where are we going to go? And how can you help us get there? So if you remember back in 2020, we built out this, antiquated at this time, set up where we took some Dell seven 30 X DS with spinning Ross SSDs and put together a hybrid VSAN platform. Very difficult to manage, little bit light on the performance, but pretty good representation in what you would build in 2015, 2016, 10 gig, networking VDI infrastructure.
Oracle commissioned us to do a story in which we did a 10 gigabit connection to the public cloud. And we did a comparison of very VMware cloud foundation solutions to basically talk you through, how do you expand your private data center to the public cloud to meet the demand specifically around VDI during the start of the pandemic? We had a 10 gig connection to AWS, Google compute, OCI, ran it to the paces. com to look at the results of that study. We've since upgraded the physical infrastructure, our data centers, to 25 gig networking on Cisco nine K switches, we're going with all flash HCI, where we've added a storage array and we've built homegrown applications.
And I think this is probably that next phase. I'd love to hear feedback from existing customers and end users. What are you doing to manage your application landscape? We have a OLTP app that has traditional load balancers, some web servers, a application server, and a database server. Very typical, three tier application that you'll find in any enterprise data center. And even for companies born in the cloud, they're still following this model. But if you want to be like the cool kids, you want to break this application up.
And again, we want to follow your journey. And we want to break this application up into different services, whether we're using RDS for database instance, we're using Google Anthos for Kubernetes, we're using VMware vSphere on premises. We're trying to get a feel for where customers and end users are going. JP Morgan spent $2 billion last year on data center capability. Basically the ability to build applications in the data private data center, and then move those applications to the public cloud as needed.
Many of you watching this are not necessarily spending $2 billion on data center, but you have the same problem. You have this core capability that you want to give developers. Do you want to break up the applications in place in your private data center, or do you want to move them into the public cloud and have your developers then break it up based on those public cloud services? Are you deploying VMware Tanzu? OpenShift? Anthos? On premises? Are you consuming it from the public cloud and then having that managed Kubernetes clusters on prem, or have you abandoned the data center all together?
