Should you trust Cisco Cloud?

[Music] hey yes going to Steve Towson from the CTO visored I come with a CTO dose following up on Cisco live us keynote day one Chuck Robb is the fairly newly minted CEO replacing John Chambers of CEO of Cisco John State yesterday and started to talk about a topic near dear to my heart I hadn't really follow Cisco for the past couple of years because I've switched focused kind of hybrid IT hybrid cloud and Cisco has lacked a coherent message around hybrid IT for the past
couple of years what do I mean by that well as a Cisco customer when I asked Cisco to tell me what their anti end vision is from from managing the network on my private data center to managing the network in the public cloud to making sure workloads can seamlessly or at least be supported from one environment to the next I had a really difficult time getting that messaging or Getti understanding that message maybe they had a message and I just felt I just didn't have as
a good friend would say I didn't have the mental dexterity to understand that message so I'm a little you might sense that a little cynical when it comes to Cisco and their cloud messaging one of the reasons I think is fair is that when Cisco came out with about vision a few years ago if you were a customer and you bought into this one cloud vision where Cisco became the broker of your cloud strategy you would be very disappointed when they pull back and they say
you know what this was a wrong vision our existing customers sorry you have an X amount of time to get off so if you are a networking professional or your IT professional you went to your executive staff and you sold them on this vision that Cisco had you have you know a little bit of problem credit credibility internally so I've been critical of Cisco's cloud capability in the past couple of years fast forward to 2018 Diane Greene of VMware faint comes to stage and kind of
cosines Cisco's cloud capability namely around their ability to leverage kubernetes to move workloads from the private data center into the public cloud specifically Google's cloud because of course Google's cloud is a hundred percent kubernetes compatible if cisco has a kubernetes distribution that is co-signed by google then all should be good right well you know you can probably predict where I'm going with this I don't trust Cisco's cloud vision I don't trust them to be consistent I don't trust them to stay the course and I don't
trust them on the bolita to execute not today I think Cisco needs a year to of seasoning to show that they're able to one Teleco he's a coherent message that's ironic that I can't say cool here but say a coherent message from private data center the public data center from private network public network the security posture in between the ability to support workloads across hybrid IT and the orchestration of those workloads now Cisco is still my trusted network partner Cisco is still very important when it
