Keith Townsend principal of the CTO advisor you want to programmatically deploy resources across the public Cloud whether it's AWS Google compute Azure oci IBM Cloud VMware Cloud on AWS or even private infrastructure terraform is probably the most famous solution you've heard of for doing this what is it terraform is a open source project maintained by hashicorp in our every cloud everyday series we're going to look at individual open source projects and talk about how Cloud providers are leveraging them or how you can leverage them to
enable your platforms inside of your Enterprises how does terraform enable your Cloud platform group in general well let's say that you want to provide a set set of services to your developers creating a container cluster you can use terraform to front in any interface that you give your developers to leverage providers in any of these faded Cloud providers to issue the commands so your developers have a consistent API it could be using something provided by terraform or hashing Corp or some other entity or it can
be something that you've built you can build a proxy to convert AWS command line into terraform request and you're providing a platform to your applications and developers how is hashicorp monetizing terraform two ways one they sell individual licenses so you can buy terraform Enterprise and run terraform the servers on your own infrastructure or Cloud infrastructure or you can consume it as a cloud service hcp hashey Court Cloud platform allows you to basically consume terraform and hashicorp's other projects as a service again you can still just
