hey how's it going to ski town from the CTO and visor comm with today's CTO daily dose I promise I'm in Copenhagen you can't tell by the dark hotel room and the funky lab setup or studio setup but I'm actually in Copenhagen mrs. CTO advisor is actually helping me shoot the video thanks mrs. CTO advisor so today is the unofficial start of dr. Cohn bunch of workshops I ran into Nigel Putin of docker fame the docker captain that has done Pluralsight courses on docker for for administrators and the docker I don't think if it's a cookbook but a pretty popular book for administrators on the I think itself pub great running into Nigel and tech I attended tech field day extra in which we were presented to by three vendors and one open source project I want to focus on the open source project for this CTO daily dose it was Alex Ellis that present it to the team who was all he was door role today he was a delegate and a presenter and he shared his open source project open fast open functions as a service I've talked a lot about functions as a service I've talked a lot about service in general and one of the big barriers to functions as a service on premises is that they that is pretty much complex I had this weird idea that I take open whisk which is probably the most famous of open-source projects on premises and install it I downloaded the book the instruction manual the getting started guide and tossed it it was not for the faint of heart well beyond my skill set and skill level open faz takes components there's a framework that takes components of the container ecosystem so docker for the time engine kubernetes and we know how complicated kubernetes can be Prometheus and other components bondo those together as a overall framework to deploy fast on premises so the ability to have auto scaling via kubernetes to a container that's running your functions easy way to subscribe from VI yamo fowls that describe your font your your functions collect them and then make them available really really cool stuff I highly recommend you check out the tech field a video with the full demo with Alexa and integration with other functions with such as the Twitter API I was blown away number one trending project on github from me to now really great work by the team my mind I don't have to watch the video a second time because my mind was just blown on the things that enterprises can do with this and the the competitiveness that this will offer to not just open with for on premises functions but even what service providers and enterprises can do to compete with lambda and the implement implications to functions as a services overall market super excited about it can't wait to talk to Alex about this tomorrow a little bit more maybe I can get them on the CT a daily dose and we can have a quick discussion either way that's it for today's CTO daily dose talk to you tomorrow with special news from dr.
