hi Steve Townsend from the CTO a visor calm with another quick CTO Chad I've been meaning to get to this chat for quite some time ever since the 17th when newt anacs first released it but there's been a little bit of uh changes in industry with the whole might have heard the deal acquired a small storage startup soul my attention has been split a little bit however i don't want to miss the giving the kudos and the job well done I've been on hyper converts players
for quite some time this is not picking on Newt annex but I've beat the same thing about vmware evo well relativity take your your pick I've mainly complained about the lack of support for enterprise mission-critical applications what some may refer to as I've heard the term for the first time from VMware bc a business-critical applications basically the applications that make you money I've been going back and forth with my friends from Newt annex the Steve Kaplan's of the world and talking about how one of the
things I don't see is customer references talking about enterprises running mission-critical applications such as SI p oracle ab AKA peoplesoft on hyper converged infrastructure not just new tanukhs but anywhere so friday new tannic snuck in the press release that they're now certified for SI p netweaver what does that mean exactly netweaver is basically the core engine around behind a.s.a.p so when you think about the core application of the foundation netweaver is the foundation of SI p Nutanix a hyper converge solution is now certify and they
have a joint agreement to support SI p on new Texas what they call web scale scale platform what is it if you're unfamiliar with Newt annex in the term web scale it's their marketing term for being able to add modular blocks to an infrastructure you get rid of the separate storage you compute converge that into what's called a hyper converge solution now instead of having a separate storage array separate compute you now have that conversion to one infrastructure you can run a hypervisor such as H
hyper-v for Microsoft VMware vSphere or kvm or even Newt annexes specific flavor of KPM called kvm call accomplice or Acropolis I'm not quite sure how to pronounce it then on top of that you can now install SI p netweaver and run your essay p solution in a supportive environment so this is all week this has been a big issue you could always run SI p inside of Newt annex there's nothing really special with your it's a virtualized infrastructure you running the top but for these mission-critical
apps support is a really sensitive enterprise level support is a really sensitive topic when I talked to see toews CIO directors of infrastructure or even application owners one of the things that they're critically careful about is making sure that they can get support for a solution you'll notice that solutions like SI p hannah are only supported only limited subset Newt annex didn't announced support for SI p hannah SI p hannah and a virtualized environment is only supported partially up to like a one terabyte node and
hannah instance disco can go up to four terabytes eight televised or even 16 terabytes for the most largest installation so this is for sa peas traditional netweaver solution based on traditional non memory database such as oral or microsoft sequel server so you can now run your infrastructures your essay p infrastructure supported on Newt annex so very very big news hats off to the folks at Newt annex i look forward to the first set of customer references citizen references and getting to write about it at length
