No Money in Kubernetes
Transcript
[Music] hey it's Friday and I have nothing better to do that is start an argument and that's right I said it there's no money in kubernetes VMware I bought hefty Oh IBM bought Red Hat but that's all window dressing Red Hat is by far the most successful open source company kubernetes Google has been very for upfront about what kubernetes is it is the needed infrastructure industry-wide for the cloud absolutely the future of multi cloud today is cute kubernetes will that change six months from now you
know what rewinding OpenStack OpenStack provides a critical set of capabilities for today a niche market it was pretty and tricked eggroll to creating a ecosystem around cloud carriers however the money isn't in OpenStack the money is in the services that are on top of ultis that the same thing is gonna happen with kubernetes or at least I predict the same thing will happen to kubernetes the money isn't in selling kubernetes kubernetes support its an enabling higher functions in capability follow the data you'll follow the value
there's a reason why Dale bought EMC there's a reason why Nutanix is a hot startup I don't know if you could call them startup anymore their public etc but there's a reason why the investment isn't data there's a reason why net app is speaking about their data fabric concept why Gartner has picked up on the ideal of data fabric it's all about the data and making sure that the various cloud services that run on top of kubernetes make no mistake you'll run on top of kubernetes
just like the internet runs on top of links today that that data is where it needs to be when it needs to be in accessed by who it needs to be accessed by that's where the total addressable market for multi cloud would be not necessarily in orchestrating workloads that's just a necessary evil just like Linux and windows kubernetes same thing you want to see the future of kubernetes look no further in the Linux you don't agree with me I hope that's the case so that we
can argue if you want to argue with me follow me on Twitter at CTO advisor on Twitter the CTO visor comm is where you can find the website and additional constant talk to you next CTO DOS
