all right NFS is dead Network file systems object storage has won right well like most things the answer is a little bit more complicated than that obviously if you're lifting and shifting applications from your private data center into the public Cloud you're going to need some type of network file system something that you can mount a traditional directory based storage system to your VM AWS has a service for that like in many cases EFX elastic file system is a NFS 4.x compliant file system so that
if you need to use NFS it's there now a little bit more commentary on this yes there are many advantages to object file storage it's cheap and deep and extremely accessible but Network file systems have been around for decades kind of since the start of networking and there's a lot of advantages to it such as Disaster Recovery replication syncing it is just a bone head simple technology and protocol and it will be here for decades we're seeing Investments with AWS and partners with NetApp and Alternatives
in the marketplace don't feel peer pressure to just abandon the technology it'll be with us for a long time
