all right let's spend a little time talking about unemployment in the current technology job market it is a tough Market the unemployment rate might be low here in the US but the job market for skilled it professionals specifically in the Enterprise it space is really tough I don't need to repeat the layoffs and the numbers from Google Microsoft Intel VMware has been brutal the result is that a ton of my friends a ton of folks in the industry are without roles and it's going to take

a while for the industry to absorb all of the talent on the market but you have to make ends meet today I've been there I've been in your situation it is not great maybe not is in rough of a job market but not being able to rely on a steady paycheck benefits Etc is is scary and I empathize with you so what do you do I think in the short term there's a lot of opportunity for not just contract work but Services these companies are exceptionally

profitable this is isn't a downturn in the market in the sense that these companies are facing reduced revenues Etc they are burdened by the fact that they over hired during the pandemic their course correcting and unfortunately many of us are impacted by that but the functions that these marketing departments these competitive analysis teams all of this at activity that they did has value and the teams that they service still need these resources marketing still needs marketing materials uh product development teams still need competitive data marketing

departments still need competitive data you still need the fun functional assets that these employees provided so the opportunity is to provide these Services you are skilled in the ability to go out and look at what competitors are doing write a report provide a snapshot provide prep briefs for executives all of the value is still something that organizations are looking for and they have budgets for these so reach out to some of your previous co-workers find find out what their needs are and in the interim can

you service those needs reach out to competitors of your previous employees I'm not saying provide competitive information or stuff that's under NDA but your skill has value let's talk about a real example Intel is much bigger than AMD it has way more capabilities and marketing competitive analysis Etc then they smaller competitors that skill that you developed collecting that that data can be exceptionally useful for a smaller competitor they're just not big enough to have a team doing this so if you can come back and provide

data market data uh anecdotal data marketing materials templates stuff that help accelerate their business it's worth the shot of reaching out to some of your former competitors and offering your services I hope this helps I know that this is a difficult time of year to be unemployed and uh not everyone has a entrepreneurial spirit and this is scary but reach out to your friends reach out to your networks offer your services see what happens
