Intel DataCentric: Business Overview

I knew yesterday's until data-centric event was a big deal when CEO Bob Swann got up on stage to prepare the audience for what was about to happen until a huge corporation datacenter total addressable market is three hundred and thirty billion dollars plus Intel once a significant part of that they want to keep their market share critically important to the company so yesterday's announcements were critically important to Intel but what does it mean to Intel's ultimate customers so until sells into the cloud providers until sells into
the large sis such as Dale Lenovo HPE etc what does it mean for the end users consuming cloud computing consuming Dale servers why should we care I deployed sa P Hana or deployed sa p BW sa peas data warehousing solution onto Hana a couple years for organization and it was amazing all the things you expect to happen from an in-memory database questions that the organization was asking could now be answered and the next level of business challenges appear you know what the less next level appeared
until highlighted it yesterday when they said that only 2% of the world's data in the past five years in the past five years has been analyzed so we don't even know properly what questions to ask to know if even they can be answered when we deploy BW on Hana we discovered the new bottlenecks in the system we couldn't ask the next level of questions so we need bigger and faster systems in order to answer the questions to be able to ingest that data to analyze that
data to put questions towards that data and that's what yesterday's event was about at Intel the ability to create the infrastructure need it to answer these complex questions that are arising arising in the industry we're no longer worried about if our systems are fast enough the systems are fast enough we can we're taking low times from six minutes down to 50 seconds that's an amazing increase in compute productivity however when you look at the largeness the largest of the problem how big the problem is rather
it's not about can we do what we're doing today faster Intel's announcements were about can we do what we need to do tomorrow period from their processors jumping up and we're gonna get into a little speeds and fees in this next section from their processors jumping from twenty eight cores 256 cores that means that you can have double the capacity a system that was limited at a 56 course for an entire typical hyper-converged note you would buy yesterday when these systems are available you will be
able to buy a system a hyper-converged node with 112 processors or 112 cords you can also buy a system that has up to 24 45 terabytes of RAM it's it's numbers that's ridiculous but what Intel where Intel innovated and was the ability to make the software faster or better for SAT Hana to be able to store memory or parts of the database close to CPU memory closer to CPU memory so that you can have more memory that 2% now potentially becomes 4 percent or 10 percent
of your data is now able to be analyzed when there becomes a tipping point when you have enough data that you can answer much more complicated questions that help to drive business decisions yesterday was probably the most impressive business focused event they gave all kinds of speeds of fees all of my engineering friends were very happy with the data that Intel gave I encourage you to go over the tech field DICOM to look at the Intel data centric event in which we challenged Intel from a
technology perspective plenty of speeds and fees but what I'm more impressed with is that intel has littering the idea of business challenges and what do computer systems need to become and this is a journey what new business systems and computer systems need to become to be able to answer those questions I highly recommend you go over to youtube if you're watching this on youtube search for the Intel data centric announcement that you'll your if your geeky you'll be blown away if you're more of a solutions
