HPE Nimble dHCI - Real World Applications

(dramatic music) >> Hey, how's it going? This is Keith Townsend, Principal of the CTO Advisor. MLOps, AIOps is all the rage. Being able to do more with less is the mantra of all the enterprise IT companies. Intel and HPE with HP EZ, Nimble dHCI solution powered by Intel's Scalable processors is no different. 0, and this video is kind of where the rubber meets the road. We've talked about the claims about one click upgrades, about 15 minutes to deploy, et cetera.
But in reality, most enterprise IT customers I talked to are struggling with the same technical debt that we're struggling with in the CTO Advisor hybrid infrastructure. 0, and we struggled mightily. And at the same frame, we still have operational challenges. My staff is stretched thin. My resources that have the ability to learn new things, or even the appetite to learn new things and do new things, are constrained by the need to keep doing what's kept the lights on. 0, solve any of those problems for us in the hybrid IT data center.
So let me give some background on where we think HPE shines. HPE InfoSight manager is something that HPE really kind of buried the lead on when it came to telling us about the capabilities. 0, as HPE would frame it, is that it's additive. If we already have a stack that includes a 3par storage array, some Nimble storage, some DL380s and 360s and 580s, if I have this IT landscape and I add HCI, I'm just adding another layer of complexity to my data center.
Yes, HCI in itself is simple. However, integrating HCI with my existing IT landscape is a serious addition to my existing IT landscape. Sounds redundant, but let's break that down a little bit. 0. The problem with that is that I never retire the old stuff and when I run into operational issues and I need insight. Is it a VM noisy neighbor causing the problem? Is it storage IOPS, not enough storage IOPS? Is it a lack of memory? Is it a lack of overall network capacity?
IO versus storage versus some bad running query? And I need to deploy my tiger team to troubleshoot a production issue, and I have a HCI stack. I have a traditional three tier stack. Where do I start? Where does my team find the problem? And where do I find the skill? HPE InfoSight kind of colors all over that. 0 stack, and that's the value that we found. That we can continue using the products that we know and rather enjoy using, add some automation to it, which really accelerates our ability to deliver solutions, but keep our operations consistent.
0 claim. I don't really care about the architectures. I don't care if it's, what we call, having our ice cream and our cake, having our storage compute combined, or if they're separated, I just need to be able to answer the questions that drives my business. What's causing the bottlenecks? What do I need to upgrade? How do I upgrade? How do I speed up these things without burdening my staff with yet another platform to learn? com.
