hi Keith Townsend from the CTO visor calm with vdm 30 and 30 video talking about thus infrastructure matter you know what in the real world this is not a question when I say real world i mean bridges roads traditional hard concrete infrastructure plumbing in the house it matters the question is an IT infrastructure when we get statements from companies like 8 16 z on infrastructure or specifically software is eating the world and public cloud enables small companies to disrupt entranced incumbents I think there is a
perception that that means that infrastructure no longer matters and enterprise IT or that it matters less let's dispel that notion a 15z itself is investing heavily in enterprise IT companies infrastructure companies they hire Martine casino from nasarah which was a 860 16 z startup investment and they also are continuing to invest and in startups that focus around IT infrastructure when we think of the capability that Amazon Google compute Microsoft Azure provide they eliminate I think that part of IT that we really don't want to think
about anymore the racking and stacking of server equipment power building security the physical components of IT even in AWS a security model they have this concept of dual ownership or shared responsibility where AWS takes security up to a certain level and then the infrastructure team with any enterprise has to handle it Netflix still has to patch their own linux servers they have to understand and deal with network designs even with in AWS you have to take and consume their software-defined networking and make it fit your
