[Music] hey how's it going it's Keith Towser from the CTO of Viacom with today's CTO doles we're talking perverts infrastructure you might be wondering Keith converts infrastructure is a technology that should have died a couple of years ago Dell EMC recently announced the v-max or V X blot 1000 you know what the you can get a v-max with it you might think H CI is all the rage the conversation over see I versus HCI is over HCI has one that could be furthest from the truth
I think the data center is selling on the two different technologies HCI is definitely for the go really fast short time to value unbox no or break add it to your cluster expand your cluster expand your overall infrastructure service offering and continue to grow in that clout specific way but see I still plays a very important role in a data center it's critically important for data center managers vice presidents of infrastructure CIOs to reduce the cost associated with legacy workloads now we use the term legacy
but many of these applications are the lifeblood to the business call center applications ERP s AP based applications Oracle Oracle business suite a lot of these applications are not really tailored for hgih CI game example s AP HANA just isn't certified to run on any HCI platform as of today at the same time infrastructure leaders must get these cost under control in order to invest in HCI automation etc we have to spend less I'm designing maintaining legacy infrastructure ci gets that mantle of been able to
reduce cost associated with keeping those mission-critical applications up while at the same time giving organizations the flexibility via the freed up time to focus on that next level of abstraction so you know what check out what HPE Dayal EMC Hitachi all these legacy vendors have in store for you when it comes to HDI tune in next week from when this video is published when we're at tech field day in Austin and we'll hear more about VX block 1000 I'm sure from Dell storage group where this
