[Music] hey how's it going as cute towns are from the CTO of Iser calm if you've been following me on social media at all over the past week or so I've been having this conversation about multi-cloud is there a true business case for multi-cloud and I think the conversation starts with cloud providers themselves and the value that they bring to the most important asset in your enterprise data if data is the most important asset asset in your enterprise then who are we trusting our data to

if Amazon Google compute Microsoft Azure are service providers that are are this unlocking the power of your data then why in earth would we entrust was basically a service provider with our most valuable asset we don't see this in any other asset class other than well no this not entirely true we see this in stock brokers I will put our assets into a brokerage account we'll let it sit there and we'll use that to buy and sell securities for example so the question is is data

stored data in AWS and using AWS services or Google compute and using tensor flow are these examples of us putting money in a broker and then accessing the services that those brokers offer now you know what I'd have to say on a whole no AWS has a pretty respectable size marketplace however you're mainly putting your assets into AWS in order to consume AWS services AWS isn't a broker my employer VMware is making a a play at being a broker but so is other large IT vendors

HPE Nutanix etc the list goes on and on everyone wants to be this layer that sits in between the cloud in your data or your services that you're provide this is that multi-cloud argument on whether or not this has value I think as a brokerage service this is true I think this has some value but we have to answer a important question before we even track on to this multi cloud journey what do we do with our data the data that sits today more likely on

some type of storage array in your data center how do you enable your broker whatever this multi cloud broker is to access this data where does the asset virtually live or little practic physically virtually you want to spread it across all three cloud providers and DB this asset as needed but how do you get there what's the secret sauce to getting there from a technical perspective I have a very I think opinionated view on this this data should more or less sit in some type of

cloud hotel or think of it as a bank the weather's Equinox NetApp with its net app servers Dell EMC has isoline cloud-based ice line service but some service that sits close to the cloud that you can dispute distribute your data assets as needed into these cloud providers and then we can start talking about multi cloud from me oh this app lives in this cloud that aptly lives in another that that conversation becomes easier once we've determined what we're doing with our most asset data with drives

the business intelligence via these apps we're building in the cloud that's it for this CTO dose if you have an alternative view I'd love to hear it if you have more questions I'd love to hear it you can follow me on the web on X CTO visor on Twitter or of course LinkedIn just google my name Keith Townsend and you'll find me until the next CTO dose we'll talk more multi-cloud why
