CXL and the Data Center of the Future

foreign principal of the CTO advisor previous two videos sponsored by my crown we established that memory driven compute specifically ddr5 power memory driven compute will power the data center of the future what we've hinted to is that that ddr5 driven compute needs a new interface if we're going to share Ram across several nodes to create a single system how does that work physically are we putting the ram in the systems or is it some centralized spot like let's penetrate this image a little bit we're going
to draw a picture that looks really familiar if you've done any type of share compute before if we have storage and we want to share storage we use technology such as ethernet fiber channels which is ETC to share storage in between systems the thought process around cxl which is driving the Innovation around shared memory is no difference the difference is the protocols and the connectivity options that we're using and cxl we're using a potentially a pcie switch connected to several hosts and then off of that
we can share several different memory types you might have noticed in the industry there's been news around demise of flash based ddr5 memory modules and what will the resulting Solutions be well the market has started to solve that cxl enables the drive towards shared memory compute and storage I can now hang off several PCI devices and that imaginary system that I drew in previous videos now can become a reality gpus can be shared CPUs memory a data center rack will look completely different than what we're
