CTO Daily Dose - NetApp Insight Day One

hey how's it going to skew bouncing from the CTO visor comm with today's CTO daily adults so I'm in Vegas for NetApp insight so it's a little subdued because of the tragic events that unfolded this past weekend my condolences to the friends and family in two of the victims completely tragic set of events it's with that tone that NetApp insight 2017 started net UPS CEO actually get a really great job of setting the tone and moving forward with time with the conference and letting it be
known that these acts of terror won't deter our way of life here in the Western world so I really appreciate that event or at least the thoughts around the start of the event so the event itself data-driven will has been the theme pretty much of net at for the past couple of years and I have to say I was really impressed with NetApp from a messaging perspective at least the first half of the keynote in which they focused strictly on business value of data they talked
they had a journalist from The Economist who talked through data being the most precious resource that a company can have more precious in the land money etc the most important asset the ability to take your data mined that data and get and distract business value out of that I think I counted not pay close attention I don't think there was a mention of NetApp product or strategy at least an hour into the keynote just a lot of repetitive concepts around why data itself is important and
not the base and then that foul-up with this data fabric architecture which I'll plan to cover more in the future but I think the basic dots they were trying to connect is that in order to have this extremely robust use of data system you need a equally robust data strategy and that is a and net up some use s data fabric its data fabric that technology you know what I had dinner with some net executives last night and we talked through kind of the extended visions
of Microsoft NFS solution on Azure and how one tap plays into that yes that's right one tap the same solution that net up has had for years it started the vision is we start it's starting to become a little bit clearer to me and why at leverage on tap and the cloud on premises and even in new tile native applications hoping to dig a little bit deeper into that topic in the future well that's it for this CTO adviser podcast or daily dose actually we'll talk
