Transcript
how's it going q Townsend the CTO of logic comm with the left daily dose from VMworld 2017 I have to tell you hump it exhausting VMworld is an intense conference the show floor is amazingly paid you probably need about a day to just go through the talk to if you want to talk to each and every vendor or the show floor would probably be a pretty aggressive goal you'd have a day you you have folks like Intel Microsoft Google Amazon or four then you can probably
spend a couple hours we've just talking about their different products so what are the high-level takeaways from vmworld 2017 help judge for best of VMworld 2017 and i have to say the biggest takeaway instead of a backup application or backup platform one VMworld 2017 best of show I think that's an interesting take on where the industry is going in general rubric won best of show for 2017 for both data protection backup and data protection as well as overall it's not I don't think this is just
a rubric thing this is about this whole category of Rupert Dhruv of capacity dados the list goes on and on this is a hot market that a lot of investment and capital has gone into to kind of just prop it up for a little while but it speaks more towards where technology is moving this API level access to your data the API level access to your data center I talked about this on the queue for the wrap-up blast the VMware community is morphing to understand that
in this role in IT is to create invisible infrastructure rubric and the like are examples of invisible infrastructure infrastructure that developers will consume directly my prediction is that companies like rubric OPC dados Dhruva etc will actually expand their offering way past data protection and going into this cloud multi cloud strategy and talking about how you can access data I'm pretty sure the Tier one storage arrays are looking at this category with the curious eye because there's no reason why this type of application should be regulated
to just the data center or to just backup and protection overall love the energy of the show I love where the community is going I'm personally just exhausted I'm extremely grateful for all you that stopped off that stopped me in the hall had conversations I absolutely feed off the positive feedback and the suggestions the critic criticism is good too and more importantly I really love hear your stories talking about enterprise IT how it's changing how you're addressing the challenges in your enterprise data center or applications
