hey how's it going it's Keith Townsend principal the CTO advisor we're trying something new we're going to document each one of the AWS Services over the course of the next 300 plus days or so hopefully AWS don't keep adding too many services too quickly the first one we're going to look at is iot core I think we're going to see a very similar theme across many AWS Services AWS extremely brilliant company when it comes to managing each one of its products AWS iot core is meant
to deploy itch devices at scale AWS like many things as straps away the concept of kind of the marketing term meaning iot or Edge uh when it comes to the actual theme a endpoint something with an agent on it that runs the iot client talks back to your AWS account that client is either a Windows Linux or Os 10 device so let's take a typical client let's say it's a camera and that camera has a Linux OS running on it you install the client that client
talks back to the AWS the Maxis q bus a AWS service let's say S3 can pick up that message off the bus and then you can create a Lambda function to run a process now replace that camera with any thing that runs Linux that can connect to AWS unless I'm an I.T infrastructure guy so let's say it's a Arista switch that I can install the agent on that I can write a python script that basically says or python agent that says every time a new Port
is activated send a message to the message bus that message bunch is uh picked up that message is picked up by S3 a Lambda function is kicked off and then I can shut down the port or or open a ticket to investigate in my ticket management system whatever the workflow the idea of it being the internet of things or Edge devices kind of a label in AWS is reusing many of the concepts that you'll see throughout this video series in this case the message bus a
client that connects to uh that message bus in S3 or dynamodb or any other AWS service that can reach off uh uh read that message bus this is central theme to AWS this is what Vernal wargels talked about at his keynote the ability to build distributed applications and be locked in to this magical AWS bus I hope this helps you better understand the AWS iot core Service uh we'll tackle the next service tomorrow but if you want to learn more about the service I'll link the
